The New South African Police Services (SAPS) import and export firearms office is now open.

 

The office is located between the Banks and the Post Office, between Terminal A1 and Terminal A2, in the General Meeting Area.

  1. On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, on an International flight, proceed to Immigration,

  2. Once you have cleared Immigration, go through to the carousel to collect your luggage.  You will NOT collect your gun case here, as the security company Securicor will take it directly to the SAPS Permits Office,

  3. Although you will not collect your gun case here, make sure that you SIGN for your rifles with the SAPS.  Keep your luggage tag for your gun case close by,

  4. Proceed to clear Customs,

  5. Exit Customs through the Red Channel into the General Meeting Area,

  6. On entry in the General Meeting Area, be on the lookout for a Riflepermits.Com signboard with your name on it.  A representative of Riflepermits.Com will await you here and hand you your pre-authorized permit,

  7. The Riflepermits.Com representative will take you to the SAPS Permit Office and inform you of all necessary steps to be taken,

  8. Should you decide to make use of our services, this is where you will be informed on how to be out of the Permits Office in a flash!!!

  9. Please take note: The SAPS check the Firearms and Ammunition and issue the permits, NOT CUSTOMS!

  10. Informatory: If you have arrived on a SAA flight from Atlanta, Washington, New York, etc., the SAPS Permit Office will be on your right hand side as you will be coming out of Terminal A2,

  11. Informatory: If you have arrived on KLM, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Air France or Lufthansa, the SAPS Permit Office will be on your left hand side as you will be coming out of Terminal A1.
